Our Brainstorming ideas:
"Think Big" and long term. Defining a plan is the end game before going off spending money and changing how curriculum is delivered. "Think globally, act locally..."
Our plan needs to be sensitive to Michael Firdyk's ideals - not being limited by software or hardware so that students can explore social justice using whatever tools they want M.F.'s ideal is one to one student laptop ratio but we need to start with teacher access to technology and professional development. Teachers need to have up to date technology - and have to be able to share it in the classroom with a projector and a screen. We have to work within the board system and around the board system until the board changes the system Notebook vs. lap top 5 year plan Creating relationships, communicating and cooperating (collaborate and problem solve)
Cloud and software - use systems that do not store the data or program being used (i.e. drop box) Blogs and web pages- create and use them with your class instead of posting it on the public community Develop a project 1st and show that there is a need to access the technology that we don't currently have Wiki - join it and use it to collaborate See "The 23 things" from Irene M. Gmail - do not use your entire rreal name but a version of it possibly using numbers to replace letters or your name backwords etc. the most important guiding principle and it is " Think outside of the box". Furdyk told us to not let the current technological environment dictate how our students will learn in the future.
